Our Mission: Impacting the Kingdom of God one person at a time
Message for the month for March 2018
By Pastor Dennis Felder
There are many epic and unforgettable events that have occurred in this nation in the last 80 years. For example, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the assassination of President Kennedy, and the 9/11 attacks that gripped our nation with fear. Each of these tragic events were impressed upon the memories of anyone who lived during these horrific moments. So often, you will hear people say that they can remember the exact place they were when these unexpected tragedies struck our nation.

There was another horrific event that occurred over 2000 years ago. It involved the son of a carpenter and of a virgin woman. This person that I am referring to is Jesus Christ, the only Son of God. His life ended tragically at the hands of a blood-thirsty crowd and the barbaric techniques of a Roman executioner. The death of Christ was an earth-shattering moment that has been remembered for thousands of years.
Now here is the important question that I want to ask you. Do you remember the exact spot where you were when Jesus died? At first, the typical answer is “No! I wasn’t even born yet.” That may be true in the physical sense, but spiritual speaking the answer may be an unequivocal, “Yes, I remember!

When Jesus died on the cross, He had you in mind. Jesus willingly went to the cross for one reason and one reason only - because He loved us. John 3:16 shares with us about the great love that God has for each of us by saying, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Sin put eternal separation between us and our heavenly Father. However, God had a life saving plan that involved the self-sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. It took the precious blood of Christ to be the perfect cleansing agent to purge our corruptible sin. The Bible tells us in Matthew 26:28,This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” You see, when Christ hung upon that brutal cross, He was thinking specifically about you.
Now back to that all-important question: Do you remember the exact spot where you were when Jesus died? If you have accepted this precious gift of salvation, then your answer should be an emphatic, “Yes! I remember the exact spot where I was when Jesus died.

When a person acknowledges their sinful ways and calls upon the name of the Lord for redemption, their condemning sin is permanently nailed to the bloodstained cross of Christ. It is at that very moment you vividly see Jesus taking your place upon the cross. It has the feeling of being there over 2000 years ago witnessing the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ as He takes on our sin.

Now that is an Easter to remember!
