Marching Orders
By Pastor Dennis Felder
Have you ever heard someone say,
I have my marching orders”?
When one receives marching orders, it means that they have received instructions to move out to accomplish a specific task.
This is a common phrase that is used in the military community.
However, this statement has been adapted in many other settings.
For example, an employee may say, “My boss has given me my marching orders.”
Some husbands will say, “My wife has given me my marching orders” signifying that their wife has created a honey-do list for them to complete.

As we live out our Christian lives, we also have marching orders that have been issued by our heavenly Father.
Below are a few marching orders that have been issued for all Christians.

To love (Mark 12:30-31 – Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself.).

To share (Mark 16:15 – He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.).

To serve (1 Peter 4:10 – Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.).

As you reflect upon the marching orders above, I encourage you to expand upon this list as you hear from God.
There is so much that we can do for the Lord, but if we do not accept His marching orders, we will never complete the mission.
Therefore, let’s act upon our marching orders and go out and change the world for Jesus.
