Our Mission: Impacting the Kingdom of God one person at a time
Message for the month for September 2018
Needed Upkeep
By Pastor Dennis Felder
Have you noticed that if you do not have regular maintenance or upkeep, life’s projects can get out of hand? For example, if you do not properly tend to the needs of your lawn, it will become overgrown. If you do not take the time to take care of home, it will become worn, broken, and outdated. It is important that we do regular maintenance and upkeep to preserve the life and investment of our property. The same holds true when it comes to God’s house that He entrusted to us.

Our church facility was built in 1990. It is hard to believe, but it is nearly 30 years old. As time has passed, the building has shown some signs of aging and wear. This is a good problem to have because it means that our church facility has been faithfully used. USBC has been blessed to use our building to minister to the needs of thousands of people over the years, but now it is time to make our church look beautiful again.

Within the year, USBC has constructed a new Coffee Shop in the lobby (The History Café), the lobby now has comfortable seating for social conversations, the lobby also has an electronic interactive bulletin board to help communicate church events, and the area has been spruced up with a fresh coat of new paint.

In the last month, additional maintenance has occurred with our building. All the bathrooms have received fresh paint, plumbing repairs
(new toilets, faucets, etc.), and bright lighting installed. In addition, the church has been outfitted with new emergency lights and exit signs to bring us up to code. Also, due to a water and mold issue, the church’s basement was eradicated of mold, the exterior gutter was repaired, and the major water leakage/seepage around the base/foundation of the church was fixed.

As you can imagine, such maintenance and upkeep comes at a cost. In the last month, USBC has spent over $10,000 to make these necessary and critical repairs that could not be avoided. These needed repairs have helped to protect our investment and to provide a welcoming and inviting church building to all who step through our doors. Be on the lookout as we do more needed projects to give our facility longevity and eye appeal.
